LRUMC Choir

Notes from Mark Belloto

Hello friends,

LRUMC Choir Singing With the summer months nearly behind us, we are looking forward to another year of music making here at the Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church. Probably the most exciting aspect of this endeavor will be the addition of our new Rodgers Allegiant Model 778 Three Manual Organ Console. This instrument will add greatly to the music we perform and participate in during the worship service. In addition to offering a variety of organ styles including American Classic, English Romantic, German and French the Allegiant Model 778 also includes a pallet of Midi Orchestral Voices with everything from Grand Piano to Zimbelstern. I am looking forward to the challenges and the wonderful musical possibilities that this new instrument offers. I know too, that over time the congregation will come to appreciate this very important investment that we have made in our music program.

In the area of new choral literature, I am looking at some of the choral offerings that have been written by Ruth Elaine Schram. With over sixteen hundred titles in print of original and arranged music, Ms. Schram is one of today’s premier writers. Specifically, I’ll be looking at some of her larger choral cantatas for the Holiday Season. And on a personal note, I am happy to say that I too, am having some success as a composer of choral music. Recently, my Kyrie was performed by the Georgia State University Women’s Chorus, under the direction of Dr. Randall Hooper.

In addition to the work that our Chancel Choir and Bell Choir will do, Reverend McFarland has asked me to see what we can do to reignite interest in our Children’s Choir. We have all of the music that we need to successfully re-implement a children’s choir here at the Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church. I know that with each of the undertakings there will be many challenges, but, I am confident that with your prayerful and active support, we will meet and exceed all of our goals.

In His Service,
Mark Belloto, CAGO
