United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women meet every other month, the second Monday of the month, at 10:00 a.m.. We meet in the Fellowship Classroom of the Education Building for fellowship and a program. All women of LRUMC are invited.
Current Officers:
- President Mary Ann Geiger
- V. President Shirley Chivers
- Treasurer Kathryn Gordon
- Planning Committee: Brenda Barrett, Shirley Chivers, Mary Ann Geiger, Kathryn Gordon, Virginia Griffin, Pat Sartain, Janice Shelnutt
Last year, the UMW of LRUMC initiated some fresh new ideas and participated in exciting events:
On Sunday, December 5, following the Choir's Christmas Cantata, all members of LRUMC were invited for a "covered dish" Christmas lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Meat and drinks were provided by the United Methodist Women. Church Members were asked to bring side dishes--vegetables, salads, casseroles, fruit, bread, desserts. It was a great time with LRUMC friends for a festive Christmas gathering after the Cantata.
On Saturday, December 11, the UMW and the Children's Ministry of LRUMC invited children in the area to have Breakfast with Santa in the Fellowship Hall at the Church. The program was free and open to all children. Parents, grandparents and friends were also welcomed.

Some of our other activities were:
- Study of Sudan with Embry Hills United Methodist Church Women
- Tea at LRUMC after reading “Three Cups of Tea” by Greg Mortensen
- Fund Raising Dance at LRUMC with Music by Sentimental Journey Orchestra
- Christmas Lunch--filling Stockings and Gift Baskets for Shut-Ins
Mission Projects
Snax Sax for Kids (to provide snacks for Kids in Need on Weekends) - provides small bags of healthy snacks to school children who do not have adequate meals over the weekend. Ways you can help: donate items, donate funds, or start a program at a school near you. Go to embryhillsumc.org for lots of information about Snax Sax for kids.
Prayer Partners for Tweens and the Confirmation Class - sign up to take a confirmand to pray for this year. Pray for their faith, for school, for healthy friendships, for their family relationships, for their health, etc. As their prayer partner you may purchase Christian bookmarks, devotions, and gifts for them to give to them along the way to commemorate their confirmation year. Also email or cards of encouragement may be sent. The goal is let them know their prayer partner is supportive of their faith and cares for them.
Prayer Quilt Ministry – Do you have someone you know and love who needs the comfort of congregational prayer? The Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Prayer Quilt Ministry offers gifts of various quilted items as a tangible reminder of God’s love and of the prayers being said by our congregation for those in need.
